We can modify your own Blackheart BH1
or supply ready modified amps to order.
The Blackheart BH1
is an interesting valve amplifier which uses an ECC83 valve as an output valve as well as a pre-am
valve.
1 Watt, Class A
Single-Ended
Volume Control
DC Power to filaments for super quiet operation
4, 8 and 16ohm speaker outlets
So, why modify it?
It’s a great little amp
and great value for moneyand at 1 watt you'd think it would be quiet enough to crank the volume up to
'10' without annoying the neighbours but, in fact, it's pretty loud. In a medium
size room, which is where most people have to practice, a 1 watt valve amp can be so loud that you would have
to shout really loud to be heard (about 100 decibels) - and around 1/10th of a watt is what
is often referred to as “bedroom level” for late night noodling.
By adding a Master Volume control and Power-Scaling™
(see http://www.londonpower.com/pscaling.htm)
you can achieve any level and combination of pre-amp and output stage distortion down to less than 1/10th
watt.
The result makes this little amp sound even more amazing and gives a wide range of tonal options
I have also found that the examples I have seen have poor quality Chinese valves. I am surprised
that this is never mentioned elsewhere so maybe some examples have better valves.
